Hey ADL

Any one know where to get a new rubber/elastic rope/strap for my rollers, it snapped.
What about Rubber Clark, will they have them?
Just thought Id ask before walking into a bicycle shop.

Any one out there buys Torq energy drinks online?
Are they good? Cheaper than Gatorade or Powerade from Supermarkets?

Penco energy drink, 700gm for $19.16

I use the Torq Energy powder for long rides....I carry measured out sachets of the powder and add to my water bottle as required. $32.50 for 500gram pail. Not as cheap as Gatorade and Powerade but I prefer the Torq powder.

Thanks, Good Info.

I use Torq for racing but not for training. There's a lot of fructose/maltodextrin in Torq which is excellent for performance but makes your body depend on the carbs if you use it all the time. For training (and if you're planning on dropping weight during your training cycle) I recommend using something which provides electrolytes but no carbohydrates. Your body will learn to burn fat better.

like this one?

probably pay a premium at an LBS, but then the extra $ might be worth it to get back on your trainer asap!

Thanks, Im not sure what brand my rollers are as it looks a bit old,
I may have to measure the cable up and email Wiggles.

I use Staminade Aussie owned and made!!!

And cheaper

From wiki..." In the 80's it was common for Europeans to snort the Staminade powder. User's claimed they received a heightened sense of reality."

Staminade is an electrolyte replacement drink....ie it doesn't have any carbohydrates in it like Torq. If you  only take Stamindade on a long ride youre going to bonk.

I eat my Carbs

The first few times, yes. See above. :)

Interesting,
I used Staminade in my 2nd Bottles,
In 1st Bottles I use rain water with Mag talbets in it.
Drank about 6-7 bottles per race.

I did this for Tour De Fornmosa Tournment, a International Road Race for the World Deaf Cycling Sport in Tawian adding 905kms in 6 stages (1 week) race in mountainous terrians.
I trained fully for it and neither dropped off or DNF.

Had Power Bar, Gel, Lollies, bananas and Muesli bars in pocket.

Don't most of these drinks just amount to pretty much sugar and salt?

Pinch of sea salt in your cordial, or use what I use, water and a banana.

Real food, no refined sugar, no colouring (though I note that Torq has no artificial colouring), cheap and available anywhere.

The idea of importing this stuff from OS is madness.

My $0.02

Sea salt might leave you short of magnesium and/or potassium salts. And when I say 'might' I mean 'will almost certainly'.
