For those of you heading to the hills over the next few weeks....look out for roadworks on Mount Barker Road outside the Stirling Pub. South side of the road has barrier netting up and there's barely space for two lanes of car traffic. When the workers are around the 25km speed signs are up but most motorists seem to be ignoring the speed restrictions.

The roadworks have now progressed to outside the Stirling Oval and as is usually the case the road modifications are being carried out without any consideration for cycle traffic. Previously from the park up to the pub there was a bit of space on left side of up lane to allow cyclists to get to the bus stop outside the pub without holding up traffic. Now theyre putting in a kerb running from the oval up to the Mt Barker Rd entrance to the pub which will effectively narrow the up lane to the point where IMHO there wont be enough room for even one cyclist to be on the road and not have a line of cars sitting behind him/her because they cant safely get past.

Will put up some photos tomorrow.

I've been avoiding the area, it sounds like another stuff up!

Photos as promised. The contractors have removed speed restriction signage so over the weekend cars will be barreling through at the normal 50km/hr so if youre on a bike be careful.
