Bron from Home Hardware has picked her winners:
But we have chosen JASON MILLER'S as the winner - I'M YOUR DOCTOR, I'M YOUR DAUGHTER. 1 METRE MATTERS!
and SUE (CP) as runner up - DON'T SQUEEEEEZE (PAST) CYCLISTS. A METRE MATTERS!
Thanks everyone for taking part and thanks to Bron and Treadlie Magazine for offering the prizes.
The stickers are still available too!
As you might be aware Home Hardware on Goodwood Rd at Westbourne Park sponsored the reprinting of the 2nd run of Cyclist Aware Driver stickers. Request yours here while stocks last or drop in to Home Hardware and see Bron and pick one up.
Bron told me she has a signboard she puts on on the roadside and wants to use it to display some cyclist aware slogans to the the passing cars on busy Goodwood Rd. The shop is right at a pedestrian crossing so stopped cars will be able to spend more time reading it but for the most they will be passing at 60km/h. So what to write that is short, to the point, eye catching, has an impact and makes a driver think?
We decided you are the best brains trust about to come up with ideas. So the task is to come up with lines for Bron to use on her board. The lines need to be short - under 15 words - snappy and effective. Something that might make a driver think the road is to share.
The best one judged by Bron wins a $50 voucher from Home Hardware, Westbourne Park and runner up a 2 year subscription to Treadlie Magazine thanks to the publishers.
It's great that a retailer on a busy road is taking this small initiative but everything helps.
Go for it and have as many goes as you like.

"Give me a metre, I'll give you my love"
or
"For 1 metre, I love you long time!"

Permalink Reply by heather on August 19, 2011 at 16:49 Trevor, good idea but change the sign to the Australian Standard so drivers might learn what it means elsewhere.
