I've seen threads around on the best places to ride, etc., but what are the really bad roads to avoid?

I commute into town via North East Rd, and it's...average. OK in some places, bad in others.

What are some roads around Adelaide that are bad with traffic, or road condition, or anything else.

I've seen Main North Rd mentioned a couple of times. I rode out of the city once, just to Northpark Shopping Centre. Never again.

I don't commute so rarely ride at peak hour times. One road I avoid like th plague at peak hour is Brighton Rd. heading south around 5pm. Use the beach as an alternative. Brighton Rd is one of the main north - south routes and doesn't have a clearway or bike lane at peak times it's a shambles IMO. Goodwood Rd is another to avoid.

+1 for Goodwood Rd

Unley Road.

This page documents the known blackspots (and I encourage everyone to add to the blackspot map).

This page gives a great overview of the problems on Main North Road.  Most of the big problems are North of Gepps Cross.

Main North Road near Regency Road intersection heading north actually narrows suddenly and at peak hour is a death trap...Main Road Road at other times is hell fun to ride :)

+1 to that corner, not good

Ella, I do not mind cycling Main North Road between Gloucester Street and just south of Gepps Cross. South of Gloucester Street the road allows no space for cyclists. Nearing Gepps Cross is difficult with the multi-lane intersection. I would not cycle Main North Road past the uni bicycle lane.

I avoid North East Road, Collinswood, when I am cutting through to Prospect where I live. No need for me to cycle north of the intersection with Hampstead Road -- perhaps it is better there.

Kensington Rd east of Portrush in peak hour - very narrow.

Norwood parade, not the road so much as the people driving is crazy, as if they only look for cars and that is not a given either!

I don't like riding the shop section but I do it because I love the resurfacing of Norwood Pde further east, so smooth and a little challenging hill at the end :)

+1 to that.

Depending on where you start at the western end Beulah Road is a good alternative to The Parade.  You could then cut back to The Parade after you have got east of Portush.
