Following a lot of attendee ins and outs this week, the cream finally rose to the top this morning to join the Retro Muddies ride. Oh, and Colin came too. Most of us met at "India" (start of Veloway for the un-initiated) except Brennan who was working on Indian time which I believe is 5mins behind the rest of us. Our ex-illustrious leader Patrck showed great concern by coming out to check on us at the tunnels with his faithful pooch. We didn't chat for long because Corporal Clanger was waiting at Sherrifs Rd and you really don't want to rub him the wrong way. Matt Boz was worrried about the potential fallout so left us at this point.

Colin was at the corner attending to the pedestrian crossing lights as promised. The were no signs of any weapons or the local maggie. However, I did spot this in the vicinity:

Nice work Sergeant Clanger!

The ride on to McLaren Vale was uneventful except for occasional texts from Brennan seeking time gap reports to the main peloton. For Xmas we are going to get him a chick on a yellow motorbike with a blackboard.

Baron then hijacked the event and took us back into a complete retro Muddies time warp by forcing us to K&S (Koffee & Snax) for refreshments. This had the added benefit of allowing Brennan to re-enter our time zone.

MUDDIES "A" TEAM: Adam, Colin, Matt B, Richard & Baron.

Richard. Someone get this man the correct jersey.

Adam. Claims his correct jersey has shrunk?

Major Ware-Lane. Seeing to our safety again by killing snakes.

Baron. Trying to convince us that the cake is healthy because it contains carrot. Blissfully unaware that a crab is about to claim his cake.

Matt B in full dress uniform and safety gear with obligatory FUIC.

Following the consumption of adequate calories Baron headed for Blewitt Springs because he had to save himself for bigger things tomorrow - good luck Baron. Brennan went with him becasue he wanted to go home ;-)

The remaining 4 headed bravely onwards to do battle on Mount Willy. I thought they were all gentlemen letting me take the lead up the hill, until they all flew past one by one :-( I will leave them to tell you stories about their times. Me, well, I made it eventually.

The Lads at the summit: Adam,Colin & Richard

Proof that I made it. Taken by the ever-so-helpful Colin who has subsequently been fully re-instated as Colonel Ware-Lane (for now!).

It wasn't over yet. There were many more kms of fanging, struggling and wheel sucking until we reached Clarendon. The Bakery was bypassed as Adam felt the need to Potter around a hill somewhere, the Colonel forged ahead towards home and I watched Richard disappear forever up Clarendon Rd. I met up with Adam again at the top of Potters. He had grown a beard by the time I got there. We battled on to the top, had a scenic cruise down Main Rd then turned onto Murray's Hill Rd until I lost sight of him going up the other side. Adam was on a mission to find some more hills!! I crawled home....ahhh..... beer :-)

Thanks to the "A Team" for joining me on a successful outing of Retro Muddyness.

good work Muddies

A proper Muddies ride by the sound of it.

thankyou gill..  I had a great day on the bike with the muddies..   I'll have to hit Pat up for jersey soon..  remind me to take my sweat band off for future photos :)  It's not a good look..lol..

Like your new Pinny Gill!!!

Ah yes, my Pinny. How do you think Colin worked his way up through the ranks so quickly today? Certainly not because he went to charm school! ;-)

Thanks again Gill - your whacky portrayal of our adventures is strangely very accurate.  I really enjoyed the ride this morning - one of the best I've been on.

And I think Richard had just come back from his audition of 'So you think you can Dance'....

It seems the Muddies have extended the pirate code to 'unless you are early you get left behind'

As I arrived at 7.28 Garmin time (Garmin never lies) and firstly I was quite chuffed I was the only Muddy out of bed.

10 minutes passed....and I was still the only Muddy out of bed.......and something was fishy.

So I set off.  As it began as a solo muddies ride I figured I better take some pics and log my solo adventure for the ride report.

Here I am at little India....no other muddy insight

Here I am at the tunnels...solo Muddy

Here is my solo assault on the Esses....not a wheel to suck in sight....

So it was with regular updates...and Gillian urging the early departers on I caught them at Mclaren Vale.....well they actually stopped.

And I know you don't have to wear helmets in cafe's in the Netherlands Gillian but I thought it to be better safe than sorry.

Good to see all conquored Willy...I had to draft Baron to arrive home on time.

Even with a FUIC induced boost I managed to drag Barons 'Easy spin' to a more sedate speed.

Footy is over in the next few weeks so I am looking forward to hitting some more rides and getting ready for a long warm summer.

I'm absolutely staggered then Brennan was late, it never been heard of before ......

ROFL +1

Sorry Matt but it was just a ploy to get extra photos for the report ;-) For some reason I had it in the back of my mind that you were a tunnels joiner - oops - bring back Pat. Eventually realised that you were probably the source of the phone text chiming half way up the first hill when I was hanging on for dear life, hence the delay til I reached the top. We will have to synchronise watches in future. My computer is playing up so a garmin Gizmo is on the cards for me soon.

Strange how even Pat's dog didn't wait for you :)

Don't worry, more longish hilly rides to come.... must remember Brennan at India...must remember Brennan......

I am normally a NTSSRC....but for muddies events I make a special trip down the hill :)

That and I had a hankering for curry.

I reckon it was your previous NTSSRC posts that had me confused and the early am etc. Just checked my watch and comp and they are both a few mins fast. I owe you a FUIC. Now you know how I feel every ride - they're only just up the road...... I can get 'em..... well maybe...oh bugger.

Actually, just how long did you spend taking all those self-indulgent photos hmmm? ;-)

Secretly gill just wanted to help you get a PR on the Veloway climb.  ;)  Hey pat on the back Gillian it worked!!!  :D
