Adelaide Cyclists

Mum's just moved to the city, and is hoping to ride her bike rather than drive her car. Her bike was banished to a damp shed for 15 years and isn't in very good nick, but she really likes it. It's rusty, needs new tyres, chain, cables and seat, but other than that it seems to be ok. The chromed bits are quite tarnished...

As a pressie, I was thinking I'd get it resprayed for her - any recommendations for where to get it done? She mentioned that she'd like to have the logos and stuff on it still - so they'd need to be (re)produced somehow. The bike's a 3-speed Crescent bike from 1980s Sweden...it's a quite awful turquoise at the moment...shiny red would be great! :)

I just had a look at your pix... This pic shows the bottom bracket and what you were saying about the coat being a bit thin. This would be because the powder coat works on static electricity and the powder would have been drawn to the chain stays in the 'V'. I would bet that the coat is thicker in there than it is in other places.

Thanks Wombat, I hadn't thought of that. It still did receive a fine covering, and I'm sure wont rust. And it doesn't detract from the final outcome anyway. Now I just have to get used to riding a bike that doesn't coast...

Np... I used to assist in a paint shop in a factory when I first left school. Seems I did learn something after all!! haha

I had my bike blasted/coated at CPC months and months ago - still looks great. Highly recommended.

Your best bet for new decals is to try sign writers. I crashed my r6 yamaha and found that they were able to replicate them very well. Signcraft on Port rd, good luck

Karlo,Hi don't know about blasting/painting but theres a guy at brickworks who makes stickers.I used him several years ago think he's still there, only thing is he won't do copies due to copyrite.I had him do name of my street which I thought was quite catchy, also my son's bike named after favourite cartoon character at the time.
