"Fasten your seatbelts!" says Fabian Cancellara to his adversaries about the road to Roubaix, or is this just him trash talking a bit to make up for a wounded ego, after everybody (according to him) in RVV didn't ride to win but rode for him to lose?

The same old contenders from RVV are lining up for the cobblestone trophy on Sunday - Boonen, Hushovd, Flecha, Chavanel, Hincapie, Ballan, Pozzatto et al. Cancellara again has to be odds on favourite, but is he mentally tough enough after not being able to ride the entire peloton off his wheel last Sunday? No doubt he will be heavily marked, so will this give a lieutenant (like Chavanel) in a break enough rope to slip the noose, while all the favourites look at each other? Gilbert is skipping PR, which is unfortunate, because he always rides to win, sometimes to his detriment.

Easy money says Cancellara or Boonen, but outside bets Flecha or Hushovd, and a real roughie Geraint Thomas - Go Boyo!

So who is your money on?

Awesome, gutsy effort by Johan Van Summeren. One for the super domestiques!

Cancellara lost that race with 30km to go when he sat up with Hushovd and Ballan trying to bridge to the 16 man breakaway - he is going to rue that for years. He really was the strongest on the day, and the strongest cobbles Classics rider of the modern era beside Boonen, but also proves he and Team Leopard are pretty ordinary tacticians - if I can't ride off the front, I have nothing?

Wet or dry this is a Classic race.

That chat room was a hoot - almost as entertaining as the race.

Here is the results:

1 Johan Van Summeren (Bel) Team Garmin-Cervelo 6:07:28
2 Fabian Cancellara (Swi) Leopard Trek 0:00:19
3 Maarten Tjallingii (Ned) Rabobank Cycling Team
4 Grégory Rast (Swi) Team RadioShack
5 Lars Ytting Bak (Den) HTC-Highroad 0:00:21
6 Alessandro Ballan (Ita) BMC Racing Team 0:00:36
7 Bernhard Eisel (Aut) HTC-Highroad 0:00:47
8 Thor Hushovd (Nor) Team Garmin-Cervelo
9 Juan Antonio Flecha Giannoni (Spa) Sky Procycling
10 Mathew Hayman (Aus) Sky Procycling

Anyone seen any post-race quotes from Cancellara? I cant find anything.....

VanSummerens was a classic (on proposing to his girlfriend). "Some people give a ring," he said. "I give a rock."

Bravo Arvesen - I'll think twice about taking the seat off....happy about Van Summeren, especially as he was my tip before he went off the front. He rides like De Vlaeminck.

Love the stats about Katusha: not one single rider finished the race, nor their team car (punctured)...
