"Fasten your seatbelts!" says Fabian Cancellara to his adversaries about the road to Roubaix, or is this just him trash talking a bit to make up for a wounded ego, after everybody (according to him) in RVV didn't ride to win but rode for him to lose?

The same old contenders from RVV are lining up for the cobblestone trophy on Sunday - Boonen, Hushovd, Flecha, Chavanel, Hincapie, Ballan, Pozzatto et al. Cancellara again has to be odds on favourite, but is he mentally tough enough after not being able to ride the entire peloton off his wheel last Sunday? No doubt he will be heavily marked, so will this give a lieutenant (like Chavanel) in a break enough rope to slip the noose, while all the favourites look at each other? Gilbert is skipping PR, which is unfortunate, because he always rides to win, sometimes to his detriment.

Easy money says Cancellara or Boonen, but outside bets Flecha or Hushovd, and a real roughie Geraint Thomas - Go Boyo!

So who is your money on?

Boonen for me, although I'd probably not put any money on it..
Ballan. But like Pat, not game to put any coin on it :-)
Hell Zimm Zamm, You are fair dinkum. Would like to see you pull that bet off.
Thor !

O'Grady

Boonen as second choice...

Spartacus of course! What's all this "trash talk" LOL

Boonen, Chavanel, O'Grady.  Too warm for Cancellara. Or a guy in a helmet i.e. not a top tier favourite.

Don't worry, if Stuey wins you'll hear chearing.

Chav

with a lazy $10 on Matty Goss who has kept his head down since MSR, getting his legs back- he's the sort of tough nut who I reckon will win on cobbles sooner or later.

Yeah, he's a real chance. Certainly in good form.
You'd imagine that Cancellara knows how to set up his bike, but he had a loooot of hip rock last weekend and you've got to wonder if that didn't hurt him overall. He ain't gonna win of course, it'll be one of the Aussies. I wonder if I'll still be awake enough to notice (I have a long track record of falling asleep in front of sporting events).
Is there any truth to the rumour that some of the professional teams prepare for the pave by riding Adelaide's bike tracks?
