I am interested in organising a swap/meet, possibly held on a Sunday, possibly near where polo is played. People are free to peddle :-) their old/new bikes, bike parts and cycling related gear to get some fun loving, bike sharing and caring going on. I would also try to arrange specialist bike tools to mount traded parts (like cranks and clusters) for instant gratification.

The last one I attended was at Format on Hindley at last years Fringe organised by Ready Set Ride. Although the number of people with gear was small some of the stuff was really cool and had real value.

Has there been a popular swap/meet recently? Are people interested in participating in one?

Just to gauge interest before setting a date and an official event post within the next month or so.

Hi,

Sounds like a great idea. I know there are some keen people about. Perhaps we could tie it in with and 'end of summer cycling season picnic'. Also a really good opportunity to put on some showcase polo matches. Also don't restrict it to just bike parts - perhaps try and find some other related goods makers like t-shirt printers, bag makers etc etc.

I reckon book it and they will come (but give yourself 6 weeks or so to get sellers and promote it)
Good suggestions, Angus, but I am hoping it wont be too large to start with. If people have new goods they want to sell that aren't too "commercial" and certainly cycling related. ie, bikes, parts, clothing, accessories and literature are all fine. I was looking at April eighteen, before the weather gets too unreliable for an outdoor event. The intention was for individuals, not businesses.

If it goes well we can organise a bigger, more legitimate swap/meet later in the year.
Sounds good. Book it and they will come.
Done.
You weren't quoting the Jim Morrison character from Wayne's World 2, were you?
I'd be keen, mate.

Plus I'll bring my tools.
Good one Carla ;-)
A family that cycles together.. stays together..

BTW Alex, nice rack!
Cool, I think I might be looking for some ape hangers, banana seat and sissy bar if you guys have them to sell?

Then again, kid in a candy shop with bike gear!!
ah cool, my little chopper could maybe do with a few bits & pieces to make it a little more comfy for me. if he turns up, I better turn up too to have a look!
Its official. Spread the word

It will be held from midday 18th April.

See the Events page for location and other info.
