Just got a txt from a friend would reports quite a few cyclists being pulled up just south of Henley Square. Anyone seen this or know what for? She wasnt sure... a group, plus individual cyclists have been stopped and spoken to... the reporter is unsure if notices are being issued....
Seems some sort of blitz is taking place.... Anyone have any further info?

Frank "gay" doesn't rub me, it is just so worn now that I find it cringeworthy. A bit like a child who has dicovered how to make the grown-ups laugh so does it over and over and................. That's fine if that is how you like to be perceived.
While I laughed initially, I am now cringing. A gay friend laughed initially but is now fuming.
While I'm at it; we are all very aware of the multiple meanings of some words in the English language, I get the impression that you would be astounded to hear the number of hours worked per week by some members of this site, you are not the only member who has run their own demanding business/businesses and some unfortunate members are unemployed or under-employed and find some of your comments about bike values offensive.
Having said all that, I find that your bike-related comments can be very useful and informative and you obviously have a genuine passion for cycling.

you seem like an intelligent person, so it is frustrating for me to have to spell this out for you. Using gay as a euphemism for bad or substandard is just perpetuating a negative stereotype of members of our community. There are thousands of other words in the immensely large English language that could be used without the potential for causing offence. If the point of you are tring to make with your communication is blurred by the insensitivity of its phrasing, then you have failed to be effective in your communication. Calling yourself blunt is no excuse for being rude or insensitive. It is possible to call a spade a spade without offending people(or potentially offending people) It just takes a little effort. In an internet forum where your tone of voice is impossible to gauge, one must be very careful in what he/she writes. I'm sure you can understand this. Amongst your friends over a coffee, it is easier to be rude an insensitive all you like, there is less chance for misunderstanding and more chance for correct context to be judged.
Finally, you can't just say don't be offended by me. It is your responsibility as an adult to ensure you interact with others as such and do not cause the offense. It just takes a little pre-thought and intelligence.

Topic people, topic - start separate threads about BELLS and INAPPROPRIATE USE OF WORDS elsewhere. Now why the blitz at Henley Square ... anyone know?
If we all used a Garmin every time we rode you could download the ride and prove you were not speeding!
