Just wondering if anybody has had the same problem. I have a F4 Polar heart rate monitor which clashes with my Cateye wireless bike computer. The Polar peaks out at 216 bpm when out on the bike. Im not happy as this Polar is supposed to be coded. Any fixes or is it just the way it is?

Yeh , my Polar does the same thing, i also have a Cateye, MY hrm peaked at 234 bpm, wasn't even going that hard tho, 99% of the time have had no problems ,

have you read through this advice?

When I had a Polar unit I occasionally saw an abnormal spike, and this easily spotted and edited on the downloaded record. I also ended up wearing the transmitter back to front (as they suggested), and to my surprise, that led to much better results, particularly when going downhill.

Which Cateye do you have, and on what frequency does it?

Not sure what frequency but its a Cateye Velo wireless+. Its a green one, as they released green, polka dot, yellow etc as a limited edition for the Tour de France this year, so its pretty new. Ive tried starting the Polar before I ride hoping that it gets coded before the Cateye but nothing seems to make any difference. I didnt want to have to spend $500 plus on a Garmin etc with a HRM, but it might be the case.

Ethan,

Just had a mate who got a Garmin 500 for xmas and I made a joke that he has a massive heart as his max heart rate spewed out to 240. I feel as though it is a common occurance with "most" models. I think I saw on one of your posts that you also know Gav at Avanti Salisbury. Hit him up for some advice. I know he just got a Polar RCX5 and his heart rate was perfect on his rides of recent times. Maybe he has a solution for you. All the best for the new year and safe riding.

my 4yo Polar F7 watch HRM has been playing up a bit, I think that the battery in the strap has finally died, as this morning it had no ic up and didnt even register wheni tried to check the time while in use (put watch under my chest). owever i did notice that i was getting a reading of immediatley 206-240bpm when i was stopped at traffic lights or under those huge electrical wires in the hills .....

so maybe this couldbe some of the causes to your spike in readings too?

On a similar note - the strap, i cant see where the battery would be changed - do yo know if it is possible to change them, or do i throw it out??

Polar have an office/workshop on Greenhill Road or at least did so 6 months ago. Looked at there website and theres no address but they do have on line enquiries.
