Hi,

Considering posting up a Summer Solstice ride either for Friday 21/12 or Saturday 22/12. Which date would best suit everyone? Considering the destination would be Mt Lofty Summit or open to other ideas for discussion to see what people would like ?

To keep  up with tradition - Summer up freeway down norton, Winter up norton down freeway. But im a traditionalist though.

I like the rationale and seems rather chronological like it should be :)

Seems to be a pretty good idea, +1 for this

Last year the group started at Bocelli, up the freeway and back down the same way finishing at Bocelli, a small group of slower riders started simutaneously at the Tollgate, the two groups arrived at the Bollards at approx the same time. The good thing about finishing at Bocelli is summer weather, outdoor seating and easy to keep your eye on the bikes. I think AVO did the organising last year.

Sounds good to me Cliveabout the start...only worry a little about Glen Osmond Rd riding up in a group...really needs to be single file if we choose that route. Yes AVO organised last years Summer Solstice and I organised the year before that through the Night Expresso group as the ride fell on a Tuesday night :)

My ritual is get the heart pumping on the Lynton-Belair, then through Belair NP in the evening light (nice and quiet) to meet up at the top.  The downward momentum is likely to see me overshoot the CBD a little ... and it is a Friday.

Sounds like a great idea - who knows who is doing what then :-)

If opportunity for a good ride is there....they will come :)
Finally posted this event for the 21st December (friday evening) sunset is at 2029 hrs and rollout from the tollgate at 1900hrs to ascend the old freeway will give people plenty time to reach the summit before sunset. Afterwards we will decend back to town via Norton Summit, hence opposite direction to the winter solstice ride which was held way back in deep dark June....the event will inish back at Bocellis at about 2115 hrs for refreshments.....please refer back to the event page periodically for updated information :)
Sounds fabulous.

Indeeditdoes !

I'd be keen for Friday evening!
