I am trying to get photos of Goodwood Oval when it had a cycling track around it in the 1940-50’s.

I have tried the State Library, Unley Council and the Advertiser with limited success.

If anyone has any photos that I could get a copy of this would be great. Please contact me either on this forum or ring on 0417775009.

Thanks Glenn Watson

You could ask cycling historian and author Jim Fitzpatrick with website http://www.starhillstudio.com.au
This year he gave a presentation in Adelaide which included old photos of crowds at ovals to see cycling races. Prior to 1940 and not Goodwood Oval but he might give you clues.

Can you find any media on some of our cycling greats, like Dean Toseland in the 1930s and maybe later? Have you tried the microfilm of old newspapers at the State Library?

That's a photo of Jim Nestor!
