Permalink Reply by Juz on May 3, 2012 at 21:59 I watched this earlier and spooked myself quite thoroughly. It's such a pristine stretch of road, perfect weather and still... !!

that is a bit of WOW! was a bit silly doing the overtake, but so lucky to seemingly come out unbroken.
Permalink Reply by Matt Jones on May 3, 2012 at 22:07 was it just too much speed, couldn't turn in , then washed across onto the verge on the opposite side of the road, incredibly lucky really.
Anyone else see the red marker , I think that means road accident fatalities happened there.
Permalink Reply by Michael Bland on May 3, 2012 at 22:17 Lucky for sure ,, his high speed endo put him into a nice summersault ,,and was fortunate enough to land on his butt ,,and not make contact with any of those big rocks ..
spectacular footage ..
Permalink Reply by Richard Stevens on May 3, 2012 at 22:11 wow...that was an amazing escape from full on injury...glad he's ok... that's why I don't like overtaking on bends at speed...but then again I'm still fairly new to cycling and not sure on my or my bikes limits... but I do like going fast.
well edited too!

Permalink Reply by Pete Roberts on May 3, 2012 at 22:54 Thanks ( I think ) Dave !
It' a fantastic hill, and worthy of respect.
DId you notice just how slow the ride suddenly became when trying to return back to the scene of the crash? For those who have not climbed it, it hurst almost as much going up as falling down !
That was one mighty bruise ...

Glad there wasn't a serious injury.
I was quite surprised to see this happen having been down that hill. My recollection is that all the bends are sweeping and really made for a safe fast descent, had this happened on Willunga, Norton or even a couple of corners on Montacute I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised.
