Don't know how others feels but I must say I'm pretty dissapointed that Cadel has pulled out of the Olympics time trial. Considering he's taken a very coveted spot as a rider representing his country he should ride, fatigued or not. Doesn't matter to me where he comes in the standings. Someone else, maybe a young, upcoming rider should have had the opportunity instead.

Rubbish really.

There's a real 'bun fight' happening on the RIDE Cycling Review , Facebook page.  I really think Rob Arnold has taken his opinion (of which he is entitled as an informed journo at least), a bit too far. But at least the quote by Cadel is apt !

I re3ckon those that are dissin' Cadel should ride an ITT against him and see who comes out on top. A crook Cadel would wipe the floor with all of them, lets hope he gets well soon, the man's a legend.

This.

The selection rules/process/committee are to blame for this not the great man himself.

I think it is widely known now he rode the TDF ill and unfortunately hasn't the physical capability to be useful in the olympics. Richie Porte replacing him for both the road race and TT would have been the smartest decision for all concerned.

If Cadel is that sick, then he shouldnt ride the ITT, but then again, perhaps he shouldnt have come to the Olympics either in that condition.
