Hi everybody
Here's something new. A 3-Stage race on the Yorke Peninsula that will also cater for club riders. Note Stage 3.....includes 17kms of dirt that hugs the coastline. Start talking to your mates if this interests you in entering a team. Stay tuned to Cycling SA's website or follow us on Twitter @CyclingSouthOz

Permalink Reply by Gus K on March 6, 2012 at 13:06 Snap! We just posted at the same time. I'lld delete mine but this is what I posted:
The weekend of the 12 and 13th of May are the dates of the new CyclingSA 'Hell of the North' stage race to be held on the Yorke Penninsular but it's not just for the local Elites, all club members can form teams and enter. If you have a basic license can have been riding Cyclo-Sportif you will need to upgrade it to enter.
It gets better - there will be dirt roads included. As the CSA website says "We can imagine now the classic 'racoon eyes' look after riders remove their sunglasses......be it dust or mud!"
Stage 1 Sat morn 12 May Criterium on closed roads, Kadina CBD
Stage 2 Sat arvo 12 May Criterium on closed roads, 'The Dunes' at Port Hughes
Stage 3 Sun morn 13 May 110km road race (start/finish Wallaroo) includes 17kms of dirt!
The 'Hell of the North' is a points race and we will adopt the same points system that was used for the Rendition Homes Series and Santos Women's Cup Series. Each Stage will also have intermediate sprints. In the Elite Teams category riders are also competing for the District Council of the Copper Coast copper leader's jersey and The Dunes blue sprinter's jersey.
Tech Regs for the race and maps/diagrams for each Stage will be uploaded soon on the Cycling SA website.
Cycling SA has had feedback that a team format would be a very popular choice, so that's being put to the test. If it looks like team nominations will be low in the Club Teams category, it will open to individuals.

RD6-Gus--AVO - you interested in PACC lowish-grade mixed team with me?
We'll have to wait for the tech regs to see what constitutes a team but it looks pretty flexible from Gazza's blurb :-)
I'm thinking cross bike with 28mm gatorskins....

Permalink Reply by Gus K on March 6, 2012 at 20:29 Would we have to do all three stages or just Sunday. I'll need to check the calendar.
