A hardy bunch of twelve riders braved the cold conditions this morning for the latest muddies ride. Clear skies and no wind made for fresh but ideal winter riding for the climb up chandlers Hill and through Clarendon and Blewiitt Springs.

Two minutes into the ride and Richard S had a visit from the fairy, he hadn't even had chance to warm up  as the start of the ride was all downhill.

So after a false start we set off again and headed for the 3km climb up Chandlers Hill Rd where it was my turn for a flat tyre, about halfway up the hill, so after replacing the tube and clicking through the gears for a dreaded hill start it was off again, my prediction of a quick ride and back by 10am was looking a bit dodgy by now.

Clarendon is down there, somewhere.

It's always cold descending into Clarendon, this morning was no exception, might be time for some Adelaide Cyclist winter kit I think.

After stopping for a couple of photos on Clarendon Rd i rejoin the tail end of the group for the gentle climb towards the Blewitt Springs Rd where the rest were waiting, and no doubt getting cold.

Regroup

With the sun trying to poke it's head through the light clouds the pace warmed up a bit through some great scenery as we headed towards McLaren Vale, once again chasing down the back of the group after a nature stop I spotted Boz coming the other way, Richard had picked up another flat and Boz was returning to help him.

Still cold.

This meant another delay and another regroup beore we hit McLaren Vale and the bike path back towards Hallett Cove. The early finish was definitely blown now aznd the group stretched out as the young bucks set off in search of Strava gold and the old farts made there way back for coffee and the best looking pancakes I've ever seen

Who was the lucky rider to choose those ?

Paul M also turned up at the cafe on a crappy old bike with no pedals, not sure how he rode it there. :P

Whilst having coffee the subject of Willunga Hill was mentioned with a couple of Willunga virgins in the group. I might do a Willunga ride in a fortnight, leaving Hallett Cove a little earlier than usual and picking up along the way at Becks and Seaford/Aldinga for those who live down that way.

Looks like you all had a great ride, Phil is out with the SSRC as we speak hopefully dodging the rain.

Hey Rich, what is it with having 50mm ? front wheel and 24mm? rear wheel

One wheel is at the doctors.

ahhhhhhhh  I thought it may have been some super aerodynamic drafting setup.

LOL... nah it does look a bit stupid but I couldn't be bothered swapping out the front pads etc...as Pat said the back is in for a bit of a fix..should be back this week.  Sort of looks like I'm riding with a space saver spare on the back!!  :)

Does someone have the link to the youtube crash that people were talking about during the ride?

Hey pat do u have a link to be other vid that we were talking about? The one taken on the expressway?

I should add my positive comments for a most enjoyable ride on Saturday morning - first Muddies visit in a while - and first of many more over the coming months.
