My turn to kick a disucssion off. Haussler sees himself on the podium for MSR. He also thinks Cav won't be at the end. In other news Hushovd and Sylvain Chavanel are  out.

It's long, it has a tunnel who will win?

Must get some No-Doze.

I don't care what anyone says, I love Liggett and Sherwin and I will defend them until the end. To me  they are the Waldorf and Statler or cycling... the voices are just cycling and I don't care what they really say or get wrong. They just sound right.

Often at work I've been running the Italian highlights. It somehow keeps me at peace.

Just watched the recording from eurosport last night, didn't stay up to watch as I had my own race this morning :)

I knew the result in advance and noticed that Gerro didn't get a single mention until he jumped with Nibali and Spartacus, a very clever ride to hide for nearly 300kms and pop up for the win.,

I hoped they'd have this. Greenegde Backstage Pass

330W average for 305km!!!

really disappointed in the media reaction to Gerro's win. They are calling it a "stolen victory" because apparently he didnt do enough of a turn on the front going in to the run to the line and just went over the top of Cancellara. i thought pro cycling was a tactical race and not about turns, or whatever.

I don't get it either. It seemed to me from watching this 40 min YT clip last night that Cancellara just wanted to keep pushing. If I was Gerro I would have just wanted to hang on as well. Niballi wasn't offering too much of a pull either.

Nibali was gassed. Cancellara looked like he was trying to do the last 2-3 kms as an ITT. Gerro was just the smarter rider. Cancellara could have sat up and forced Gerro or nibbles to go past and sat on their wheel but he chose to keep the pace high. Gees all three ride for different teams and coming into the last km they wouldnt be too keen on helping eachother out!

Cancellara has a reputation for trying to do too much and he continually gets caught. Has an AWESOME motor but at the end of the day the smarter rider won MSR. i dont see it as any different to a bunch sprint and Cavendish pulling out with 200m to go. He often sits on the wheel of other teams if he gets isolated.

If Cancellara is going to win more classics he is going to have to change his tactics, he is to predictable.

To say Gerro and Niballi just sat on Cancellara probably has an element of truth but both riders had a man, capable of winning a bunch gallop, in the chasing group, why would they work.  Also there were times on the descent of the Poggio that Cancellara opened a 3 or 4 bike length gap on the other two but Gerro closed it down each time dragging across Niballi.

If this was an amateur race, Gerro would probably have got some nasty comments from other riders but this is a pro race and his job is to win.  He did nothing different to Nuyens in Flanders last year.
