The Australian Masters Games is pleased to announce that Australia's largest sporting festival will be heading to Geelong in October 2013.
With this being the fourteenth time that the Australian Masters Games have been staged, approximately 10,000 participants will again come together for a week long sporting festival that celebrates fun, fitness and a lifelong commitment to personal health and wellbeing through an active lifestyle.
Geelong, host city for the second time in the history of the event, will provide a world class location for the 50+ sporting events to take place and provide a unique atmosphere and location for visiting participants.
“We are very pleased to be able to partner with the state of Victoria and a great host city in Geelong. We are equally pleased to be able to work with the great volunteers and sporting community of Geelong who supported this event in the past” said Project Manager Ian Fitzpatrick.
“The Australian Masters Games is not only about the sporting competition but equally about a unique festival atmosphere that is created over the event period. Selecting a location such as Geelong, that is such a desirable holiday destination with amazing sporting culture and infrastructure will only continue to enhance and improve the overall appeal of the Games to the participants” he said.
Geelong is fast becoming one of the premium major sporting event locations in Australia. Host of the 2010 UCI World Road Race Championships, the Geelong Multisport Festival and the annual Festival of Sails, the region is now set to play host to Australia’s largest sporting festival, the 14th Australian Masters Games.
