Dear all AC Members,
I am writing hoping to get some support from the AC community to help bring Cipo to Adelaide in 2013.
I have been talking to Mario and he is keen to come to Adelaide but we just need a little help convincing SA Tourism.
A group has been setup on Face Book called We Want Cipo Down Under
Can you please help us with this by "like" and sharing the page.
What we are hoping to achieve is 5000+ Likes to show Tourism SA how much the cycling community would enjoy having Super Mario in Adelaide.
If you want a sprinter, Robbie McEwen would be a far better choice.
Why do you say that?
Not taking anything away from Robbie's awesome list of accomplishments BUT we have already seen him work his magic in Adelaide before.
Cipo would be exciting to see both on and off the bike
Robbies a good egg dont get me wrong but he aint no Super Mario. Cipo is far more then just his palmares, he is a personalty, entertainer and innovator. Bring him down we got the beaches he loves!
He'd be a hoot.
(but lock up your daughters)
From what I've heard about his attendance to the races in the US recently (Colorado & Utah) he was quite happy to interact & mingle with the crowd.
If he could be next year's 'Merckx' in doing the community stage & making a few appearances (along with his purdy bikes) in the Bike Expo/Tour Village I reckon it'd be fantastic.
Sorry, you don't have my support. It's time to draw a line in the sand and look to the future.
Great idea, not to mention how much it will help Trak sell more of their bikes/
Good thinking Glen
I am currently talking through a proposed itinery with Cipo and im hoping that it will incorporate as many people who want to see him up close as possible.
Some thoughts are (feedback is welcome)
1- Twitter Ride
2- Meet and Greet
3- Have him ride the Bupa Challenge
4- Small intimate dinner (15 Seats Only)
5- Chartered yacht cruise for Cipo Owners
6- MCipollini bikes display in the village
7- Legends Dinner
Actually like the idea of a twitter ride. The more people that we can get out and about the better. It allows the general public the opportunity to mingle with a superstar of the sport and not just the elite that can afford one of his bikes!
Cipo was famous for winning sprints in the first week of le Tour, then going home and watching the rest on TV ! Could not handle the mountain stages. I would like to see any one who does this, to have those wins taken from them. If you start, then finish as Robbie always tried to do, and in most cases was successful.
