After feeling like a magpie magnet last year, I have a feeling I'm gonna attract them again this year. I copped my first swooping on Saturday on the way back from the Muddies ride. Perhaps they can sense evil...?
It was still June you silly birds!!!!!!!
The notorious Marino train station magpie - who drew blood against someone last year for memory - got stuck into me as I waited for a train by the boom gates unable to flee.
Can anyone beat that? Or have I won the gold medal being first?

No real commitment, just a squawk & a belated clack of the beak. No contact made.
I apologise in advance, I acquire a helmet full of zip ties from here on in. :-(
A very bad look......
Permalink Reply by heather on July 3, 2012 at 20:26 I heard that magpies will avoid huge fake eyes, believing that the creature is too big to take on. Anyone prepared to try this with the top/back of their helmet?
Permalink Reply by Richard on July 3, 2012 at 21:30 Nah Heather, they're just too embarressed to attack such a silly looking cyclist :)
Permalink Reply by Dstone on July 3, 2012 at 21:36 i have never seen prince Charles get swoooped by a magpie so iam assuming its true.
Permalink Reply by Torsten Bunge on July 3, 2012 at 23:05 I did that last year, Heather and can honestly say that it worked. Was getting swooped regularly before hand but once I put fake eyes on the top of the helmet didn't get done once riding the same routes.
