Ok so this is prob a bit lazy of me but it I am going to ask anyway. I have just bought myself a new bike for xmas and now I need to justify the expenditure by actually going for regular rides. However I have my kids every 2nd weekend and every other sat morn as well as all the other stuff that goes with kids. So I can do every 2nd Sun and that same weekend the Sat after 12 ish, I can do every 2nd tues night but every tues night when school holidays on, and then every 2nd wed and thurs night. Every Mon night is good for me. Confused yet? Anyway I hope you get the drift, outer harbour and back is an enjoyable ride as is veloway etc etc so hopefully somewhere there is a ride that I can tag along with. As for pace, i dunno, medium ish I would figure. Any help would be greatly appreciated, oh and I live in the mitcham area.

Dave I ride most Saturdays with the mudcrabs, rides are always featured here, usually the veloway then Willuga or clarendon return.

Check out Cancer Voices rides, again featured here, which are on a Sunday. My partner works shifts which means I can ride most Sunday mornings, with every alternate Sunday being a slightly longer ride.

Robert Rau does a Tuesday night ride from Hurtle Sq.

Lots of rides available.

Also put up a ride yourself, others will more than likely join in.

Cheers patrick, sats are out for me unless they are late starts but the tues night ride is looking good and I seem to have dobbed my self in for the 2nd of jan for either a ride like crazy rec ride or the challenge rec ride so I reakon a nice roll out to outer harbour on the 3rd of Jan is looking good so if anyone is interested let me know
Sat 28th ride might suit you if you are free on the Tues morning, early start at 7-00 but should be a good group.

Hi Dave,

We have a Tue night group ride which meets at the SE corner of Hurtle Square at 7pm, has fast & slow groups and does various 2-hour hills rides, meeting back in the city around 9. Apart from the social aspect, you'll see various good hills routes near town, too.

You could also try the Beach Streak Thu night ride, which used to meet in Henley Square at 6:15pm and do 30km along the beach in a couple of groups. But it's been ages since I've done it, so it may have changed or gone.

If you can't see a group ride that suits your timing (in 'Events' along the top bar) yo can list your own ride as an event and others will know when they can join you.
Hi Dave, check out the bike sa website www.bikesa.asn.au they have a full program of free group rides on most days at various times. I also recommend joining Bike SA it's only about $70 and it includes insurance so check it out.

the easier to understand BikeSA rides program is here Many of the BikeSA rides are slowish, with the exception of Cobwebs (Sat am), Tues night and Thurs night (as mentioned above)

I would also suggest you read through the Cobwebs Ride Guide at the same link to get an idea of the calls/signal/etiquette if you are new to group riding.

these rides are all for riders with road bikes, so I am assuming that is your present!

The Tues night ride also requires really good lights as hills decents can be fast. I use Ayups (narrow beam option).

+1 on getting insurance cover.

cheers guys, will def look into a few of these rides, the tues night one is looking good. Yup a road bike is my pressie, prev had an S-works and now got a giant tcr advanced 1, picked it up tues night been for a 7km test run and had the kids since so cant use it properly untill mon night, a trip up to blackwood is on the cards I think and then a longer run on tuesday

Next Tue night is on, although numbers may be down. There are even a few turning out for Megabike on xmas morning! I might do that and then some hills to earn my xmas lunch.
