LOOK for bike riders
I was in my local bike shop today and they will giving out masses of these new stickers. One for the rear of the car and one for each opening door. Similar to what is being handed out in SA.

Thanks Bec, I have asked the promoter to send over a stack for me to include in my info packs at work. Its a Vic govt initiative and not sure how keen they'll be sending a stack (or a few stacks) over to SA.

However, was also cautious of asking for stickers to be sent to SA. Wonder if SA Govt would be prepared to pay Vic Govt to organise more stickers for SA distribution.

It's a great initiative and has had a lot of publicity. I don't understand what you mean by 'Similar to what is being handed out in SA.". The only downside is the people who should have them on their mirrors won't be putting them there but it's be good on taxis and so on.
There are moves from the Greens in SA to make dooring an offence. I am not sure where it is at but Mark Parnell might comment.

Gus, it is already an offence. However, some AC members will vouch that SAPOL do not take action when cyclists are injured.

AUSTRALIAN ROAD RULES - REG 269
269—Opening doors and getting out of a vehicle etc
Rule 237 deals with persons getting on, or into, a moving vehicle.
(3) A person must not cause a hazard to any person or vehicle by opening a door of a vehicle, leaving a door of a vehicle open, or getting off, or out of, a vehicle.
Offence provision.
Expiation fee
269(3) Creating hazard by opening door of vehicle, leaving door open etc $155 + victims of crime levy

I've already ordered and received a pack of these stickers, although the website says they are for Victorian residents only they will send them to SA if you're willing to pay the $1.something for postage.
