A couple of exciting announcements to make for this event...
Firstly, with special thanks to Red Berry Espresso, all finishers of the Adelaide Dirty Dozen will have their names forever more 'immortalised' on a wall of the cafe as a "Legend of the Dirty Dozen". This goes for every rider who completes each of the 13 climbs on the day unassisted with the group - walking if necessary! Alongside their name will be the year that you first completed the ride so that the list of Legends can be added to annually. Only be completing this event can you get your name on the wall - will you be an inaugural Legend?
Secondly, again thanks to Red Berry Espresso, I will be running a fun little weekly photo competition in the lead up to the event. There are 12 weeks until the event and I will, at a random time, post up a photo of each of the 13 hills (approx one per week) in the general discussion section of this website. The first person to correctly name that hill will win a free regular coffee from Red Berry Espresso.
Hopefully this might tip some "will I or won't I have a crack" members to give it a go! It will be very tough, but it will be fun, and regular regroups will ensure that no-one will be left behind.
Finally, but by no means least importantly, I want to acknowledge the support of Red Berry Espresso. The cafe owner, Walter, is an Adelaide Cyclist member and will also most likely join us in this event. If you haven't had one of his magnificent coffees yet, please drop in and say hello - 1A L'Estrange St, Glenside (corner of Greenhill Rd) - www.redberryespresso.com.au. His cafe is very bike friendly and he is very keen to support local casual riders - just like he is.
It was the least I could do for the support he has shown to shift the finish of the event 6.5km down the road to Red Berry Espresso for a post-ride recharge, a place to brag and compare our war wounds. Its mostly downhill and probably a good way to work some of the tightness out of our legs after the hills, and I am sure you would agree with me that it is easily worth doing. This should cause no inconvenience to anyone, it enhances the event, and I'll update the route maps accordingly.
Thanks Walter, and thanks Gus for the support.
Cheers, Adam

Walking counts? Legend!!
I'll give it a go as soon as I reckon I'm up for the full ride. Thankfully I'll be away this year :-)
Nice work Adam and Red Berry Espresso. I hope it's a successful day out for everyone.

Any special mention if I complete the ride fixed?
Also if you check the address of Red Berry Espresso in google street view there's even a cyclist out the front.
Permalink Reply by Peter Hill on June 8, 2012 at 20:19 I'm going to have a crack at a two of the dozen this weekend.
I have previously heaped abundant praises on Red Berry, so I won't do it again.
Permalink Reply by Torsten Bunge on June 9, 2012 at 0:33 Not up to the climbs yet but I can drive as a support vehicle.
@Fergie - BTFU! - you've already done the "Screw"
I've got whooping cough which can take 3 to 6 months to get over.
