Has anyone else come across a roo on the freeway down track only 1km down from the Crafers bollards?

I side-swiped him (or her) a couple of weeks back and it scared me half to death and caused my ankle a bit of grief. The following morning it was there again but this time on the far side of the road.

Today, yet again, at about 6.15am the roo shuffled out of the way as I rapidly braked.

Be careful... it's a marsupial jungle out there.

No, but I've nearly hit a deer at night, further down the same road (near Eagle).

Funny thing about those deer is that they don't belong to the deer farm at the Devil's Elbow but no one has deer except them. So where did they come from?

Ikea? Everything seems to come from Ikea these days.

+1.

No I deer

Feral deer I'd imaging, just used an old local Messenger Press paper as a liner and the front page was 'Feral Deer in Urrbrae Park". Not that far away. I'd probably get arrested if I took a weapon strapped to my back though. Don't think the road kill version so practical on a bike. Am somewhat partial to venison, roo too for that matter...

.....oh deer....

Perhaps they get confused when they see another hairy creature coming towards them Sam & think you'll be friendly...

I think you're on to something there!

A deer and a couple of roos have almost claimed my scalpt too.

Was too busy looking out for Koalas and the rerst of the animal kingdom comes out.

Michael Warner (a former AC member) hit a roo about the place you described and was reasonably badly injured- he subsequently took his own life. If you look carefully on the rock face as you ride up you will see a small metal plaque at the site where he had his accident.

Poor bloke... I'll be taking it a bit easier under the cover of darkness from now on. I'll also keep an eye out for that plaque on the way up tonight. Thanks for the heads up.
