What is a usual rate and cause of getting a flat tyre?

Over the last 10 days I have had 3 punctures, all from '3 corner jacks'.

Two were on the front tyre of my hybrid (700c Kenda K shield tyres)

One was on the rear of my MTB (26" Maxxis Overdrive with Kevla belt protection tyres).

All were picked up when riding along the road and/or bike paths and not heading along any unsurfaced tracks or bushy type areas.

Am I doing something wrong or is this just very bad luck?

I thought having puncture resistant tyres might have helped but not so.

Is it worth having Slime tubes?

On the up side - I have now had a bit of practice at changing tubes and repairing on site.

Both my bikes have disc brakes and I now much prefer V Brakes when chaning a rear tyre.

Usually get punctures after a good rain as the debris is left on the road and tyres are stickier and pick up all the garbage.....puncture fairies seem more busy on some days and not so much on others.....pretty much luck of the draw :)
I used to get plenty of punctures just riding along the Linear Park. In the end I got tyre liners AND slime tubes and since then I haven't had a single puncture in almost 12 months. You have to watch with slime that it doesn't fill up the valve of your tyre. If it does it can be a little tricky (and messy) to remove congealed slime - definitely an outdoors job!
Spoke too soon, I got a puncture today.
Yes! you jinxed yourself. The puncture fairy is indeed a sick, twisted, vendictive entity
Tell me about!
Mark Might it have been you I saw driving down Wakefield St this morning 8ish?
Yes you did, I thought it was you. I was going to Bec's ride West Beach to Outer Harbour.
You missed out meet at Bocelli's.
Next time.
My late mother once told me that they used to put Golden Syrup between the tyre and tube to seal up the frequent 3-corner-jack punctures.  Lots of 3cj around Tarlee in the 1930's.  Also, don't drop the 3cj's that you pull out of your trye just in front of your bike - her bitter experience, I suppose.
I had a run of 9 flats in 3 weeks at the start of the year. That was over 2 bikes and 4 tyres and included a blow out, a nail, some glass and some mystery flats.
