I stepped on the scales this morning and was pleasantly surprised and while I ride for pleasure and the environment fitness and health maintenance also plays a part in it.

Perhaps you are consciously trying to loose weight or not - how much have you lost since say Dec 1?

I have been commuting a couple of extra days a week this year, doing a hill session one morning and a Sunday 60km ride and I've been going to training with Matt Lloyd once a week as well as watching what I eat and my portions sizes.

(of course you can keep your weight confidential but for the record I've lost 3.5 kgs or so--- and I just ate a Cherry Ripe, albeit a min-ish one)

How hard is that hill up to Hallet Cove as I still find them hard at my weight. Hey maybe I can wait at a cafe at Brighton while I wait for you guys to come back down the hill. LOL
Coromant Drive - Hallet Cove?

Mark ride the bike track from Marino to Hallett Cove, a lot easier than the road. I assume you are thinking of Cement Hill, that's a bitch.

@ Rob Cormorant is a double bitch.

Helen I could join your Seacliff ride for the return leg if you put it up as an event

I've never even tried to ride to Hallet Cove I am unfamiliar with all the tracks and roads, but Hey I'll give it a go.
let me know when you do, I'll join you if I'm free.
Patrick and Mark I'll be in would nice to have some company on my regular ride.
Have lost 6kg since 01/01/2011. Combination of watching my diet & riding more. How long I can keep it up remains to be seen. Aiming to lose about 10 to 15kg more.

don't worry Chris you can do it....

you job is to post us weekly now on your progress.....

watch out... BIG BROTHERS WATCHING....LOL

your right.... this week all I've been living on is an orange for brekkie..... a pear for lunch and clear broth soup for dinner....  I figured i can;t afford to put the weight on whilst i'm not exercising.... and drinking warm green tea throughout the day (only cause i'm sick) and then i will go back to my normal foods i promise

but tonight my son made pizza and it was just a boring cheese one.... and ummmm welll i had a piece...

was yummy though

The great thing about Aussie barbecues is that we burn the food /before/ we put it in, saving our bodies the trouble!

Great Thread Angus. It is interesting to read everyones' stories.

I am genetically thin and am often told that i am 'lucky'.  However, before taking up cycling more regularly, i felt 'fat' on the inside.  Certainly wasn't as fit as i am now.  I have lost 2kg so i am 60.6kg now, with BMI 20.2, although i wasn't aiming to loose any weight.

Interestingly, i noticed that because i was more active my food intake increased, you know how it is, snacks on the ride, eat like a horse after a ride and maybe even before.  This does start to go bad though as i noticed that as my fitness increased, i could actually reduce my portion sizes and maintain a healthy weight.

You'd loose an extra 500 grams if you shaved your legs judging by this photo.
