DPTI have produced a time elapse video with a map superimposed to show how fast it is to ride from Glenelg to the CBD using the Mike Turtur Bikeway. Now you can tell friends there is no excuse if you live that way.
As a bonus see if you can spot the Adelaide Cyclists member (or maybe there are more than one). (Shhhh if you are that person!)
Update: Part 2, the Linear Park from West Beach to the city.
oh good point, thanks for the tips.
In peak hour cycling to the city along Beulah Road beats the Magill Road traffic jam easily.
Some messy road crossings but not to shabby. Move over Copenhagen :-)
and why is that odd?
You are right. I used to take the Anzac Hwy and it took me 38 minutes to ride from Warradale to The Advertiser where I used to work.
Great video. It makes Adelaide look almost impressive (except for that appalling u-turn you have to do near Stop 8).
All they need now is to join it up to some decent lanes in the CBD and they'll be nothing left for me to complain about. Heaven forbid.
It would be great to see this sort of thing going in all directions from the city.
Edward your chance (and other cyclists) to tell ACC what bike lane designs you would like on King William Road north, Pulteney Street south, and Frome Street.
the cyclist seemed to have a good run.
they also passed a lot of cyclists so perhaps they are fitter than most
Love it, my husband commutes into the city about twice a week and people look at him as if he is mad but he says although it may not be faster than the express train from Noarlunga it can be quicker than the car and definitely quicker than the bus.
Think they should promote other routes into the city like this.
