I have been watching the TDF some of the riders seem to have helmets without holes for ventilation in them.

The rider that broke his chain just before the finish last night for instance.

What is the supposed advantage of having a helmet without ventilation holes?

Aerodynamics I assume, think they look fairly rediculous, although Greipels at least looks to be a clear cover over a normal looking helmet, Sky's look silly IMO.

Alot of the teams are looking for every advantage and the lack of holes have proven to be a area for improvement.  Sky's helments are standard but without the vents cut out of the outer cover and Lotto have the attachable cover installed at manafature.  UCI rules do not allow covers, as it counts as a aerodynamic fairing, which can come off.

The helment you want to see is the new Giro that Rabo and Garmin have been using.

Must...not...mention...'Whip It' by Devo film clip where the guys with whips look exactly the same as the Team Sky riders.

Feel better getting that off my chest. Shame I've had that song stuck in my head ever since Stage 2.

I know that feeling.  Have had 'tonight is going to be a good night' going through my head and even worse I have been singing it all day.

Mind you the guys in the shop would not have described it as singing.

Sorry I cant resist....

I was thinking more like this...

They just need the sky emblem emblazoned across their chest...

Whip it good!

Go Forward... Move ahead.

Twenty years ago, helmets did not have holes. The big vents are relatively recent.

I think they were all using normal vented helmets last night, seems to be more for the faster sprinters stages

I use tin foil to wrap my Helmet for bling effect :)

You will probably get better reception to Rob , but watch out for lightning
