Am looking at hitting up a few dirt roads down south on the cx bike on sunday and was wondering if anyone has ridden
lafferty rd between potters and firth rd
marshall rd between cherry gardens and laffery rd
lewis street between brunbry st and maher rd

Permalink Reply by Jilden on May 24, 2012 at 9:19 My CFS map book shows no connection between Lafferty Rd and Marshall Rd, there's a creek in the way. Ditto Lewis St. Do an areial photo search of the area using nearmap.com, it's usually less than 1 month old. Best of luck with your dirty weekend!
Permalink Reply by Dstone on May 24, 2012 at 10:51 Thanks for the info Jilden. Lots of those tracks that they are say are not passsable or look like it from above turn out to be passable. On the w/e we did Waymouth off of Ackland hill and despite a 20% rocky deep grass drop into a 1ft deep creek and subsequent climb out we were still able to get through. But it was more old school Jupiter creek style mtbing then cx strada riding!
Im in the process of putting together a big strada loop for the adelaide hills stretching from Clarendon to Montacute and I just need to fill in some gaps down south so any suggestions would be welcome. Will post it up on Strava sometime soon and label the sections Strada 1 through to whatever
Permalink Reply by Jilden on May 24, 2012 at 11:36 Looking at nearmap on the desktop, the Lafferty/Marshall connection looks like a useable track, can't see any gates though. The western (missing) section of Lewis St looks fine, the eastern section has a big ass barrier across the western end of the section. Otherwise there's a sort of track through there. Enjoy looking.
