Hi
I currently have a 12-25 cassette and have a chance to buy a 12-27 cassette. Some websites say I can use a 27 without problems and some say I will have problems.
Just wondering if any AC members have any personal experience with this combo???

Hi Paul. The S-Works Roubaix SL Dura-Ace 2007 uses this cassette with a short cage and compact cranks. I have not experienced any problems with this setup. I find it easier than on my previous bike with 53/42 and 12 /23 cassette.

if you're running dura ace, 12-27 is the largest big tooth, and largest big-to-small gap that shimano recommend. but it will work perfect. on my 105 bike i ran 50/34 and 11-28 with zero issues.

A mate was running 50-34 with 12-27 on a BMC with 105 no issues, changed it to a 11-28 still no issues.
I use this cassette with standard 52/39 chain rings, and short cage Ultegra derailliuer with no problems. Shimano's recommendations assume that you will be using the extreme cross-over gears, which should be avoided anyway.

I went from 25 to 27T with no change in chain length.
Permalink Reply by Matt Jones on May 25, 2012 at 11:31 Chain length would only be an issue if its been adjusted too short when in the big ring / little cog position.
