I've mapped out the loops according to the draft map on the Bike SA website, just under 7 weeks to go until the event...

Loop 1 : http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/104027093  (72km, 705m climbing)

Loop 2: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/104027635 (72km, 415 climbing)

where did those climbs come from?

I don't remember seeing them in the draft maps :(

oooooooo I think loop 2 takes in some of this years BUPA ride - that was a magic leg.

wow I mapped it in gpsmyride a couple of weeks ago with different results???  I think yours looks better Phil ;)

Loop 1 = 1105m of climbing

Hmm so who is right, a cat 3 climb at an average of 3.5% does that sound right for cat 3?

depends on the distance, but at 3.5% I wouldn't have thought so. I was surprised to see a cat 5 climb on there - does that even exist in the rest of the world or was it something made up for all the flat places?

It looks like a good challenge either way, wouldnt mind doing both loops, I better start earning my leave pass points :-)

Loop 1 looks very challenging

Loop 1 is Galwer Wheeler country for sure we ride those roads all the time.  Kent road is a long climb but nothing to hard. I didnt do the last GS but it sounded a lot more challenging. Im really looking forward to this one.

At this stage I intend riding from home which will put me over the 200km for the day cool!!

Sounds like a plan Stan.   :)

Does this mean your in then Pete.  I say we go via Galwer and normal GW route to Williamstown. I did a quick mock route and it was 33km shouldnt take that long.

Yea, Im in.

( Screams internally )
