Enjoy reliving the pain of the top part of Nettle Hill, I know it's a climb I'm not in a hurry to do again!

I have to say at about 1 min in to the nettle Hill video I've never seen so many cyclists on the wrong side of the road. Clearly no cars in sight and looks like a seldom used road but probably not a good look.

Mind you Phil you made Bald Hills Road look like a descent rather than a climb!
Permalink Reply by Ricky on May 30, 2012 at 9:19 Great video of Nettle Hill Phil. Good to see you passing all the people who went too hard too early. Its one of my favorite hills. +1 to Patrick. What happened to 2 abreast and keep left unless overtaking? It looks like you had to squeeze thru a pretty narrow gap. Great course and probably the most scenic grand slam ever.
Permalink Reply by Matt Jones on May 30, 2012 at 10:36 Agree, Nettle hill was by far the steepest bit of road I've had the displeasure of walking the last 2/3rd's up. I couldn't get my Heartrate below 160 walking it......Tried to hop back on the bike and got a calf cramp.
Bald Hills was a great climb, and the ride through Inman Valley was absolutely brilliant, Although I suspect it would be a very chilly place to live.
Looks like you climbed it easily Phil :) . I suspect Rob D will be back down there soon.

Permalink Reply by Matt Brennan on May 30, 2012 at 12:43 Bald hills was a nice climb.
Nettle Hill makes me cry. Although it didnt look as steep on the Video....and the scenery was moving much faster than I remember.
It was like rush hour at the one minute mark. Dont know what they were all thinking....perhaps they suddenly thought it was a closed course??
By the time I got there most people were walking up so it wasnt such and issue :)
Permalink Reply by Phil Crick on May 30, 2012 at 14:00 I was quite surprised to come across such a large group all going at the same speed, I just wanted to get passed and be on my way, which after a couple of excuse-me's they did make room for me - buggered up my strava time though!

It's mounted on the bike with a roll-cage mount rather than the bicycle mount as my bars are too big for the cycle mount, but you can stick them virtually anywhere. I'd contemplated putting it on facing backwards, but then I have to stop to turn it on and off.
Permalink Reply by Richard Stevens on May 30, 2012 at 21:26 it looked like you were flying up Phil!!! good quality footage... how much of the ride did you manage to capture?
Permalink Reply by Phil Crick on May 30, 2012 at 21:47 Mostly just those two climbs, there weren't many people on the second loop when I went up the hills so that's all I bothered to record.
Permalink Reply by Michelle Crick on May 31, 2012 at 14:45 That's beacause you flew round the course :-)
I followed you round the course and it was not just on coming traffic that would have been a problem, thankfully I was a patient driver and no hurry to get round. There was no traffic on that road apart from me that I saw.
It was indeed a very quiet bit of road thankfully... as all road rules went out the window!
