Permalink Reply by Rob (Chewbacca) on September 21, 2011 at 11:52 Sedan hill is more steep and longer than Gorge Road.....however the view is very pretty as you look over the plains :) Greenhill Road would be a rough comparsion:)

Thanks for that.
Permalink Reply by Dahondude on September 22, 2011 at 10:53 Yep Sedan is a killer of a climb. Its pretty long, but the last half is REALLY steep. Its also without trees so if there is any sun it can get pretty hot to. When I rode up it for the 2009 Grand Slam there were a lot of wrecked riders on the side of the road. I'd say its more like Gorge Rd than Greenhill, but longer

But the main purpose was to see if my little legs could get up that climb. Here's a quick summary of Loop 2
The descent from Mt Pleasant was a little hairy. The road is pretty bumpy so beware, and some of the corners need a bit of focus. I'm sure the more fearless amongst us will descend like demons, but I'm a woosy-la-la and was on the brakes a lot.
The flat stretch along to Sedan is pretty uneventful, but you can easily maintain 35-45k/h to help get the average speed up.
The Sedan Hill is definitely a killer. Around about 5km long with a steady rise, and a couple of little steep bits. I must admit I did stop half way up, to ah... look at the view. It probably wasnt as bad as Gorge Rd, but it did go on for a long time. I'd expect after 150km it would be an absolute nightmare.
Coming back from Keynton the road was pretty heavy and seemed suck the energy. Might have been that bloody hill or the cold. But I was a bit knackered at the end. The route seems to have been planned around magpies, lots of swooping to keep you focused.
BTW dead wombats really stink!!
