Here is some footage from Grand slam #3. I notice that there is the odd Gawler Wheeler in this group. (Yes, I know, some of us are very odd) Notice that the second rider into the corner is the second last out.
Had some lower back problems from the past week, felt fine though from the start up until about the last 15km, reckon that long climb did me in, so wound up going pretty slow at the end of loop one. Had a couple people draft me for some climbing stretches so I guess I can't have been doing that bad. Obviously decided to skip the next loop. Spotted a few of the Gawler Wheelers and some of the Adelaide Cyclists Celebs too.
Permalink Reply by Dave L on May 30, 2011 at 21:06 I had a good ride but not my best time. I found the stretch from Gawler to Kersbrook a bit tough but the rest was pretty easy going.
It was so good to get past Birdwood on the second loop because the traffic thinned out and I felt a lot safer even if a bit wet now and then. I reckon the most deflating thing on the ride was when I thought I must be near the end and then looked up to see the 10k to Williamstown sign, lol. That last 10k hurt big time.
Maybe its just me, but it was bloody cold at the start.....
I haven't experienced that before.
As usual though, it was a great event.
I reckon there were double the number of people than at GS1.
Definitely double the number of cars on/around the oval...
All i really know is GS5 (200k) is going to be tough!
