Hi guys i have been looking at how well the Strava Site has been making changes, and the new function. I wana get on Board but the Galaxy S is not connecting and i can only record any thing from 2 -5kms.
So now i am looking at the Garming as i see by other uses that this connects through the Garmin Connect site.
What is the Difference between the Red the Blue and the Neutral devices?
All i can see is model codes but is that all. Is it all looks?
I have seen on for $174 ex Taiwan. I have read that this shouldnt be a problem.
Has any one else done this and yes i know some ppls support the LBS but i wana support my wallet and save a few coins.
Any suggestions or advice on the garmin??
Dean

I have the Edge 500 with cadence and HRM which I paid around $300 also from Wiggle which has more than enough features for me.

Permalink Reply by Pete (repeats ?) Roberts on November 12, 2011 at 15:30 I have the Garmin 705, so I am not too sure how the 500 works. However, if your buying from over seas, and if it has built in maps ( Im not sure that it does ) but if it does, check that the base maps are for Australia / New Zealand.
Dean the colours are just for looks. The garmin500 does not have maps but it does have a lot of features. I've only had mine a month or so (second hand like new - cheers Brett) and I am very happy with it. It would be interesting to know how long Mike has had his unit. I'm always a bit edgy about buying something from country deep into the copy trade. Check the price includes cadence and heart rate monitor (if you want them) becuase often the unit is advertised by itself and you have to get the rest as extras unless you are buying the "bundle".
Cheers
OOps I coiuld be wrong looking at the Bike Express site it implies there is a difference in the colours. I think the difference is in the quality of the articles bundled with each 500 unit.

Edge 200 - $140
Edge 500 - $260

a couple of things to be aware of
1. power cords supplied may not fit Australia power sockets therefore u r only able to charge via USB only
2. Garmin Australia were at the time i bought mine were not dealing with any warranties for units bought out of Australia
not sure if that has changed
Bicycle express r probally the most competitive in Adelaide $260 without the bundle package, Bike station have matched prices in the past if your in the south.
glad your happy Jeremy, great training tool
