would a reflective sticker to place on the hidden part of the door work just as well as well as warn cyclist if the door is ajar?

Is a label inside the car just clutter?

This is how it works.

Great project until we get proper bike lanes out of the door zone. I just ordered some. I'll be handing them out to driver's who open their door without looking.

Just ordered a heap with the same thought

Edward, yesterday after seeing as usual vehicles parked in the Prospect Road bicycle lane, I thought of handing out the DPTI leaflet 'Bicycle lanes: Share the Road'. Thought tempered by how many leaflets I would need.

There were also 5 bikes outside the shopping mall at 144 Prospect Road where there is no bicycle parking that meets Austroads.

Yes, I've noticed that. I remember seeing a tiny stand in the underground car park with space for about three bikes. I'm not even sure that's there any more. Amazing that a new restaurant on Prospect Road was not given permission to open recently because of inadequate car parking but there is no requirement to provide even one bike park.

Edward, this year replaced 'wheel parking' of 3 small and low loops. Return and find one locked wheel and the rest of the bike gone? Still the replacement bike parking does not meet Austroads in requirement to be near an entrance and under casual observation to deter theft. Would you park in the basement and away from the the Prospect Post Office to buy some stamps?

Fantastic!

Much better than just yelling "Boo!" at people as I usually do ...

Whilst a good idea, Im not sure if i see the point. Anyone who is cyclist aware enough to want to use one of these, presumably already looks before opening. All of the other ignorant people out there that have no idea cyclists exists and dont bother looking, wouldnt use these anyway

Tim - I was dropped in Pirie St the other day hopped out the passenger door at the lights dived between parked cars and hit the footpath and suddenly realised I had got out straight into the bike lane and had never even given it a thought. I would like to think I am cyclist aware but this time I wasn't. Fortunately no cyclist around.
