I know we should be able to ride for the sheer pleasure of it, especially on a perfect day like today, but I forgot to turn my Garmin on at the start of today's race and it's driving me nuts.
I felt like I pushed pretty hard but without the all important HR and cadence data I feel I'm missing something. All this technology is taking over, can't upload to Strava, bugger. I'll just have to rely on my aching legs to tell me how I feel.
It was a great ride through the hills, well marshalled, a bit warm and windy but very pleasurable, which I guess is all that matters.
Meh....you dont need Garmin to tell you kicked arse :)
...or got your arse kicked :)
Almost as annoying as forgetting to stop it and then driving the freeway home, ruining all your averages!!! Argggghhh!!
really!! OMG I will have to figure that out then. You are a life saver!
Just had a vision of VOD doing a happy dance :)
OK heres how.
1. Open Strava
2. Click on the ride you want to crop
3. Click on the "Actions" tab (sort of bottom right corner of screen)
4. From the drop down menu choose "Crop Ride"
5. A new screen opens up.
6. Use the slider at the top of the page to crop the beginning and end of the ride. You will see the start and finish points move on the map (zoom in on the map to be sure where you have cropped to)
7. When you are done. Click "Crop"
Be warned, this is a permanent change and you can't "Undo".
The crop feature is actually really useful. If you look at my three Strava rides today I had to start, stop and reset the unit between each of the three rides. What I could have done was just hit start at home and then hit stop when I got back home. Then copy the file from my Garmin unit to my computer. Make two copies (ie three versions in all, and give them all slightly different names). Then upload all three files (they will all be identical), then crop each one for each of the three parts of the ride.
Pat and ROb could have also used this feature. Just start the Garmin when you get out of the car and crop all the unnecessary guff when you get home.
today out of all days, especially on a race day, spewin man! I had to same same issue yesterday's race, just nerves got the better of me and forgot to press the start button, few seconds later oh shit! I fumbled around trying to clip in and start at the same time. Finally got it going.
Which placing did you up getting and how many riders in the group?
I got there real early today and had a good warm up ride and left it off for that and just forgot all about it until close to Strath, wasn't worth starting at that stage. At least I had speed and HR to keep an eye on during the ride.
Not sure Rob, about 14 in my group but it split at the top of the first climb. I didn't make the top ten but a few of my group did. Got to make sure I'm better placed next time and not get boxed in. Good learning curve.
Results are in Rob
