It's been two and a half weeks since my last ride.  I have chosen work and family over my life partner (pictured) and I fear she will not easily forgive.

But seriously, this weather has brought me down... can't seem to wake up at 6am to head out and the nice days have been pre-booked for other stuff.  How does everyone get around this? What makes it worse is that mine is an indoor bike and I swear to you it looks at me with puppy dog eyes... Any hints and tips?

Life can be cruel at times!

Have a break, go running or just take some time out.

I am doing the same thing, not been on my bike for 4 months!

That makes me feel better, I thought nearly 2 months was long. I have been running though.

wait till daylight savings start - more BIKE time

Hang a cloth over the lights by which it sees.

Presumably you watched TDU for many hours which many will justify as an acceptable substitute.

As long as u keep moving thats the main thing. I usually slow down at this time of year because I can't be bothered with the magpies. I find it just distracts me from enjoying my ride so I will be hitting the gym and doing some running etc. come end of sept I will start getting ready for Amy's ride and a good summer of riding. The bike is not the be all and end all. Have to enjoy it or just take some time off!

a few weeks off will do you good, call it part of your yearly training program!

agree yes being out on the bike is good for you but if your not in the head space it makes for a dull ride...

I would happily get up early when it's not so dark and wet and cold!

I am training for the GS 150km in a few weeks so that has helped to motivate me but like yourself struggle with motivation normally. Just take the time to do something else and wait until your ready...were not all made of hard stuff.

A few weeks? It's next Sunday dear!

if I don't feel like riding, this is what I do: put on my gear and ride.

I like that... I'm going to adopt it next time.

Not been on your bike for 2 or 4 months! I keep on cycling for transport. I took an enforced 4 month break when I broke my shoulder. Got back on the bike in March and reminded that saddles can make you sore.
