I was hooking down Flaggy Hill this morning, going flat out (the same speed as the cars) and taking the lane, as you do so no bugga is tempted to squeeze past you.
Remember those big, black patches where they did all that work earlier this year? On the bottom side of the lower patch, there's a pothole. Currently, it's about the size and shape of a small football and deep enough to go right into the road fill. The edges of the hole are broken cleanly off so you can expect it to enlarge fairly quickly as chunks of bitumen break off.
How do I know this?
I hit the sodding thing at 71hm/hr this morning. Saw it at the last moment, then WHAM. Good thing my tyres were tight. I built these wheels (it was on the Jamis) to be bullet proof and it looks like I succeeded. I hit hard enough to drop my handlebars about 5 degrees but it scared the furballs out of me and felt nearer 45 degrees.

Permalink Reply by Richard on October 25, 2011 at 22:17 Just keep to the left of those big patches and you should be alright. Bugger if some halfwit tries to squeeze past though.
I was in heavy traffic the other day, cars either side, a car not far in front, I was doing the same speed as them, and the dick behind me was leaning on the horn for me to get out of the way. Gawd knows what he thought he'd have gained because if he got in front of me, he'd have been far too close to the car in front.

Can you report it to someone who will fix it?
After all it will only get bigger.
When I was a child there was a manoeuvre we used to call a bunny hop.
Am I showing my age?
Permalink Reply by Richard on October 25, 2011 at 22:14 It's still called a bunny hop but at those speeds, on that hill, I ain't bunny hopping for no-one ... besides, it was a case of see, recognise, hit - my old reflexes aren't up to it any more.
Permalink Reply by Framer on October 27, 2011 at 11:45 I agree Richard - "on that hill" a bunny hop could send an unfortunate rider into another post code
Thanks Richard, Im going down that hill tomorrow morning!
