Went for my first bike ride in weeks today as I am still recovering from whooping cough. Only 6km but it was good to have the wind in my face and the sun on my back again! Small steps!

welcome back Spartacus

Thanks Rob.

6 kms. That's almost a CX C grade race! Well done

welcome back…

Whooping cough...that's rough Mark. Glad to hear youre back on the bike.

For anyone who hasn't had a whooping cough booster since childhood...get one. As Mark will atest whooping cough isnt just a cough...it can kill you.

I thought I was safe as I was vaccinated as a kid, but apparently you should have a booster every 10 years!

My GP told me that there is more than one variant, so can still get whooping cough if vaccinated or had it as a toddler (like me).

I had coughing fits that would last 15 minutes and I was gasping for breath. It is really scary!

kudos

I want to know where you found the sun on your back.

Good to hear you are on the mend and back on the bike Spartacus.

Whooping Cough - ouch! I got vaccinated a couple of years ago along with my son (5yrs old at the time if I remember). I was actually after a tetanus shot as it had been 20+ years since the previous one. The actual jab was a triple - tetanus/whooping cough/diphtheria (if I remember correctly) and I got it at the Burnside Council chambers. You book it a couple of weeks ahead and there is a modest cost $20~30 or something.

I caught the flu about 3 weeks ago - that had me on the couch feeling very poor for 4 days - most unusual for me! Now of course everyone is saying - "get a flu jab"!

You would have had a Boosterix shot...combined diptheria-tetanus-whooping cough booster. The GP gave me the scrip for my shot and my wife who's an RN got to stab the needle into my arm. Its a funny thing but Ive never seen her look so happy :(
