I feel silly asking but is there different cycling shots for male and female?

I only ask as the Mrs is busting my chops for some padded bike shorts!!

Yes the chamois is different in Male V Female, female is narrower. Also Female shorts the lycra is a little more generous through the hip area. I would recommend Bibs alot more comfortable than shorts
I agree with Bec. The chamois and the cut of the lycra is different and anatomically designed different between the genders. Bib shorts are the way to go over regular knicks to avoid the waist band cut into the tummy area. Also avoids having to adjust oneself during a ride.
thanks for the info!!
all the best with it. When it comes to comfort when riding, there is no such thing as a silly question. lol

I have tried both and I actually prefer men's knicks over womens and definately bibs are the way to go. It just comes down to personal perference. I will only wear 2 types, assos and santini. (highly recommend assos) They are a little on the expensive side but if you're planning on riding a few ks, it is worth the extra bit of money to ensure your butt will thank you.

Also for long rides chamois cream is a good idea too.

x3 re bibs being the way to go...just gotta get over the part where you look like a wrestler. They are sooooo much better than shorts. Personally my lady bits prefer a female chamois...  ;)
I wear ordinary clothes for utility cycling, so no chamois. Although one could wear hidden knicks underneath. Instead my bike has a split gel seat and a seat post with in-built shock absorber.

I love my pearl izumi bib knicks, aside from the fit over hips and chamois, I also love that they do up at the front so the straps don't drift round the boobs!! It is similar to a chest strap on a back pack .  <3

same as lisa i like the mens Bib knicks
Highly recommend the assos FI13 bib knicks

Big drawback of bibs over waisted nicks is having to strip off to go to the toilet.  Dunno how you girls go on a long ride especially when it is freezing cold. Try waisted ones first and get them fast before your wife is put off cycling forever. If she gets more serious, then give the bibs a go, with the above caveat.

Netti make some good priced ones and you could also trying buying from avantiplus on-line which is having a massive clothing sale ATM.
