We have lots of talk on here about going up hills but what about down.
I have been up the Old Freeway couple of times now and ridden of into the distance. But on the way up plenty of riders going down and I thought must be a great descent.
One of my faves is Alexander ave in Galwer long and straight.
Some are just downright scary like checkers with that right angle at the bottom. And of course road behind Para Wirra, Galwer Wheelers know what i mean.
So what are your faves and what are you riding the brakes down.

Permalink Reply by Dstone on February 28, 2012 at 20:50 Road decents dont do anything for me but montacute has always been a favourite. Main road into Clarendon is alweays exciting but that might just be becuase turners and potters is just around the corner.
Found some killer strade bianchi style roads while out blackberry picking yesterday that I hope to hit up on the cx bike next sunday. Great windy climbs and decents with a mix of tar and dirt.
On the MTB its hard to go passed old bollocks/pwt - fast flowy with good line of sight. The old overlocker in eagle - rocky rutted bumpy tight twisty GLORIOUS. Bluegums is magic as well.

Gorge Road, a nice assent but a shocking road surface for a good descent

Permalink Reply by Jack Graham on February 29, 2012 at 8:29 Is there still that awesome rutted out section in the middle? Be careful you don't turn into the farm...I think they have guns in there and would like to make you squeal like a pig.
Permalink Reply by Jilden on February 29, 2012 at 17:47 I use this regularly as it's my street! The 600m fire trail bit is not too bad, I usually only walk the last 100m as it's quite steep and slippery. The bypass through the farm has been off limits for years. A CFS bloke talked about it last year and said it was badly washed out anyway.

Permalink Reply by Ricky on February 28, 2012 at 21:48 My fave is Fox Creek. Last time down there I hit 83km/h.
