The bikeway is flooded between Redcliff St.(Goolwa end) and Newell Ave.(Middleton end). This is the wetland part with the boardwalk. After the last couple of days of rain the water levels have risen further and no bike path is visible from the Newell Rd end. I had a look today and saw Ducks and Swans where the path should be.

Permalink Reply by shane makins on July 16, 2012 at 12:18 RD6,it's over knee high at the Goolwa end and flooded right up to the start of the path at the Middleton end. You'd have no hope of getting near the boardwalk for a photo now. :)

Permalink Reply by Richard on July 15, 2012 at 21:43 Nah, the ducks and swans float so they're perfectly safe.

Permalink Reply by Lucas Pittaway on July 16, 2012 at 19:47 About a year ago I was riding with my brothers in the rain. For kicks we decided to ride along a spillway like in the movie Grease. After a couple hundred metres the water grew deeper and deeper until eventually we were riding through a few inches of mud and stormwater past our axles. I was using a sealed bottom bracket and bearings and still ride on the same without any maintenace. The other bikes were all 80's road bikes so when we made it home I hade to completely service two ten speed bikes and pull one aside for parts (it was on it's last leg anyway). All the bikes smelt funny for a week or two.
I will never ride through something like this again.
