Does anyone else have any other esoteric interests or Hobbies (apart from cycling) ?

I collect Cacti :), I have been doing so for about 10 years now :) I at one stage I had over 300 different specimums. It is closer to 150 now (house isn't massive, and have three kiddies), I self propagate from seed to heat tent to sale or collection. I sell on Ebay and through the cactus club of Australia, not organise enough or have enough room to go bigger, but one day.

I find it very rewarding and relaxing, It really works for me. What else do you guys do when your not on two wheels ?

Not sure it's esoteric but 4WDing is my other passion. I love the outback and camping with a swag and a cooking on an open fire. Slightly related to cycling I also love trying to get up ridiculously steep hills in the 4by.

+1 4WDing...

its betther balance than 2wheels for me...also cooking, taking photos and fashion....

i'm a photographer... golf is my other...typical of me to pick three of the most expensive hobbies!
I wouldn't call it esoteric but I do homebrewing - beer and alcoholic ginger beer mainly. I also collect science fiction paperbacks, about 2,500 and increasing.
Forgot to add I also collect dragons, books and figures mainly
Do the cyclists in your group rides get to taste the ginger beer? Maybe not, being alcoholic and drink-cycling to consider.
I ride by myself as I only commute by bike
GeorgeB, do you commute to the city? If so, an invite to join Adelaide BUG that I coordinate. When I contact ACC, they are prompt in fixing most hazards. Then there are the too-hard, like barricades on bridges to protect motorists from driving into the water. But nothing to protect cyclists from vehicles being driven into the bicycle lanes. One can no longer jump onto the footpath to escape.
After Easter I will be commuting from TTP to the city several times a week ( If I find a shower near where I will be working)
I also brew beer, alcoholic lemonade & cider and am doing the reverse commute, riding from the Western suburbs up to the TTG civic centre every day.
How do you brew the lemonade? Is it a kit or do you have your own recipe?

George, Me also a home brewer, got any good recipes for Ginger Beer?  I've not tried it yet but was considering a light APA plus half a bottle of Stones Ginger wine tipped in at the kegging stage...I've heard the ginger can get really strong if you grate it into the fermenter etc.

Cheers Hic!
