...is it just me, or is there a hugely sunken depression - nay, nay, crater! - in the middle of currie street just before leigh street?...you know the one - its leaking water and pooling and threatening to collapse in on itself the next time a car (or cyclist) goes over it...

The intersection was OK yesterday / Thursday, but water leaks can develop quickly.

For SA Water emergencies you can phone 1300 883 121 (24 hours).

its been like that for days! hmmm

OK, re-read -- JUST before Currie Street. I walked along the northern footpath of Currie Street and turned north into Leigh Street, so I may have missed seeing the depression and water. Travis, you know the location so up to you to phone.

Plan was to meet cycling friend for coffee in the Leigh Street cafe that has bicycle on the wall. Closed, but not the only food place closed during the holiday season. Instead coffee and waffles at the Belgian Waffle place.

This is probably unrelated but did happen on the morning of the Christmas pageant.

What is the location? On the news this week that many burst water mains as the soil dries out. The Walkerville Arms Hotel would not have been happy about turning away New Year's patrons.

The one in the photo is a fire hydrant knocked over.  You can see the broken-off top to the right of the geyser.  I suppose the fireys are there in case a basement gets flooded, but during the pageant, they would have had some appliances located west of the route.

oh wow!...scary!...the spot i'm taking about is on the south side of currie street, about 20-30 metres east of the leigh street intersection...the worrying sight was the really sunken bits of bitumen filling up with water...as if it would give way any second - but i guess the road experts know what they're doing :/
