Hi All,

I am after a decent map site, now i have tried this bikemap.net and tried to print out the Willamstown route but it is not what i expected on the print out as it is too many pages and i did use the simple print settings. I logged onto mapmyride but they want money, but has got good detail as a map, can anyone reccomend another site?

Damn knew i should have got the Garmin 800 instead of the 500! LOL

Hi Mark, maybe try http://www.bikely.com/

I find it a good alternative to bikemap.net, though I've never tried printing from either site so I really don't know what results you'll get from the link above.

Regards, Julian

If you are after just a quality map site that is updated regularly then this is hard to beat, much better than google for built up areas. It shows most bike paths with a small dotted line.

I was given this link by a fellow AC member http://www.heywhatsthat.com/profiler.html It's a Path Profiler, pretty good.
thanks all, bikely looks good so far
http://www.mapmyride.com/     is even better

Have you tried Garmin Mapsource?   it's sort-of-free...

you can use a free set of road maps (OSM  or Shonky Maps for example) with it for plotting a course etc.

Thanks CLP, i have a Garmin 500, you would think Garmin Connect would have a map planner of some sort. I will the Garmin Mapsource a go cheers

support a local - www.mytrails.com.au

you can draw your route quite easily (without the pesky cookies that seem to block bikely from my PC) and it will give you all the info eg elevation etc. you can also upload courses. I am sure all of the others do this too but I find it quite friendly to use. good luck!

Strava works brilliant with Garmin 500

http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/ - yet tried it for the Garmin 500

Hi rob

I looked at the Strava website, not bad how is this different from the Garmin site? I couldnt see in the online tour where you can create your own routes. Cheers
