Did anyone watch the Giro stage on tv tonight. The commentary talked up the final 18km descent as having 40 technical corners. They cast doubts on Basso descending skills while talking up Ryder Hesjedals prowess and adding an air of anticipation to what was about to come. The previous commercial break had been announced as the final ad break. Then at 17.5 kms to go it unexpectedly went to an ad break and come back with a replay of the finish. Where did the final 17.5km go??? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. They tout the coverage as a ¨live stage¨?? Well enough of my rant.

Yeah - bloody pissed off. Battled to stay awake for hours to watch it, had to be up 4 hours later. Sacrificing my sanity for a very important day at work today (priorities...) and then got shafted on the finish. I'm extra grumpy today! No-one mess with me!!!!!!
Permalink Reply by rossmg on May 24, 2012 at 10:32 Really? Actually, I didn't even realize SBS had it on last night. Glad I was watching it streaming over the net - some English station judging from the ads but those were very far and few between and none at all for at least the last 25km. Vid quality of course wasn't great but it didn't really matter.
Permalink Reply by Adam Williss on May 24, 2012 at 10:52 Unfortunately can't get streaming at my place... Have to wait for SBS to show the stages. Also don't have the ability to record it and watch it later. Aaaahhhh!
I was going to stay up and watch, glad I didn't!

The "LIVE" coverage is superbe along with the commentary and with Sean Kelly's excellent advise I do not even bother with SBS. Give up the grog or smokes or whatever, you won't regret it and it not all that expensive.
Permalink Reply by Derek Hasel on May 24, 2012 at 13:08 Those climbs last night were incredible. A 10Km climb with an average gradient of 9.3%, just one of them. And the scenery wasn't too shabby either.
Permalink Reply by rossmg on May 24, 2012 at 14:31 Scenery was fantastic and those downhills looked to be soooo much fun! Nice weather as well ;-)
Some nice photos:-
