Hi guys,

I have had a Cygolite expillion 250 for about 15 months and the battery died about a month ago. just wouldn't charge and dies after about an hour. So I went to the LBS and asked about a replacement one. They told me that it would cost about $90!!! (they also showed me the 300, which was on special for $120 - cheeky) I checked out ebay and yep about the same price there too! I couldn't believe that a light that cost me about $120 has a battery that costs $90!

Good news for us expillion owners is that I emailed the Cygolite people in the states and asked if i could buy a replacement battery direct from their website for $29USD (you can only order one online from within the states) and they sent me an order form! So my new battery is on its way! $42AUD inc postage.

So when your battery dies contact Cygolite directly.

Holy crap $90 really? The last one I sold was for $60.

I wonder what a company like battery world could have done?

Mine is cooked as well.

Maybe we can start a class action to get them replaced outside the warranty period?

really!

I remember when I bought mine that I recall it having a lot of info about buying parts from them direct so it gave me a feeling of confidence in them.

I've not done my battery yet (and they are a unique to the unit size) but my only problem with the lights is the bar mount and how much it rattles in it, like the two parts of the fitting are not the right size. I've now wrapped a rubber band around the light and mount join to stop it rattling so much. It's weird because the helmet mount is rock solid.

Would some electrical tape wrapped around the handl3e bar in a strategic spot make some padding and stop the rattling?

I use a piece of torn off rubber glove between the base and the light which stops it rattling ;-) Definately poor design!

go niteflux....its made here :)

Hi Guys.

Note the Expillion Battery [p/n EXP170] is able to purchased here in good old Adelaide for about $33.00 !

Cheer Emu Legs

@emu,    it would be handy for all if you add where?

Emu legs can be found at Road Rage Cycles 199 Payneham Road, St Peters 8363 1003

depending on how handy you were, you could possibly open one up and take a peek inside...  assuming we're talking about this one ....  i wouldn't be surprised if you found something like one of these inside the casing
