Is anyone else wondering what the advantage of attaching a transponder to their bike has been for cycling SA events? Still no results on the website...

from the cycling SA website under cyclo sportif  - Full results to be posted soon.... {Thank you for you patience}

there was 41 teams so it might take a little longer for them to post the results.

I've always wondered that about CA events, and they usually only put up the winners..   Southern vets transponder events have the entire field posted almost by the time I get home, certainly by the end of the day...

The amount of riders should have no effect on publishing... data is available in the computer as soon as the event is all over, just a matter of formatting it and publishing to the website!

I think the issue is because there was at least one team that didn't do their homework on the course & turned left before they should have. So the times are not right, how they sort it out who knows.

Having said that, the times7 system is underperforming & REALLY fails to deliver results accurately & in a timely manner. This system has been delivering substandard results since its inception to CSA. Rumour has it that it should be able to perform & does perform regularly interstate & in NZ.

Clubs & riders have been paying a hefty price for this system (for something like 4 years), from my perspective it has not delivered ANYTHING it has promised to do. And in most cases has added to the work load of judges & commisaires.

The time is nigh for this unit to be got right or shelved.

Paul, Times-7 has been working well this year and there were certainly two events where human error resulted in problems but it's gone like clockwork since.

CSA has been getting results out very quickly for just about everything, including the Rendition Homes Series where the presentations for the podium placements, prime sprint placegetters and 5 jersey category leaders are all over within 10 minutes of the end of each stage.  However, sometimes there might be a delay in CSA uploading results to its website and this is usually because their part-time staff didn't get around to uploading from home that night or they are on days off.

The transponders only cost $22 (compared to MyLaps transponders $135) and the system was purchased from a government grant.

Damn... there's a lot of teams in the 1:17 bracket..  gonna be fierce competition for 3rd place @ Snapper point!

Without trying to whinge, can the timing system provide lap splits? This will show the teams how they paced themselves over the 2 laps. :)

Slammin and Clayton, I've just spoken with the Times-7 operators and it can do lap splits and average speeds.  They are going to program the system to give these at the next Cyclo Sportif at Snapper Point (and of course, for the remainder of that series).

I think that would be beneficial for grading teams also, as those teams who punctured/crashed/had mechanicals will show up by having a vastly different lap time from lap to lap.

It would also be great if the team listing of riders and times were also shown to give some faces to the team names - esp as every rider is required to have their own transponder.

Amen sister Gemma :)

thanks GS, looking forward to seeing the results for snapper then :)
